Mikaela Shiffrin injured herself in a crash during giant slalom warmups in Åre Sweden. NBC Sports reports:
Olympic slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin crashed while warming up for a World Cup giant slalom race in Are, Sweden, Saturday and was taken to a local hospital for exams on her right knee.
“She basically flipped over into the net,” Shiffrin’s manager Kilian Albrecht told The Associated Press, adding that the American skier will not race Saturday.
The report notes she is withdrawing from Saturday racing, is in second place overall (behind Lindsey Vonn) and is currently awaiting the results of an MRI exam. We are hoping and praying for the best here at the Wisconsin Skier.
