Green, Gold, and Blue

Sigh, the Packers lost on Sunday to the New York Giants. I am still convinced the better team lost, but there is no arguing who was playing better football on Sunday and that is what counts. Our receivers who through most of the season were catching everything thrown in Brown County could not hold onto anything and that also applies to the period after the catch.

However, there is one positive in this — I no longer have to plan ski trips around football games, even the Superbowl is going to have to fight hard to get my attention over skiing. However, no matter who is playing it is usually a cause to get together with family and friends. However, if it were up to me I would be coming home from a ski trip at about kick off time and watch with middling interest.

The key thing is though, for the vast majority of us, watching the NFL is a passive consumptive type of activity. We sit in our chairs and watch as others do. However, skiing is an active creative activity we do.

Now get out and DO!

Packers to the Superbowl

By: In: Skiing

The Green BPackers! No, this is not a football site, but it is about Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. As you may know the Green Bay Packers beat the Chciago Bears this weekend in Soldier Field for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. I have a number of ski-network friends from the Chicago land area and I know the pain they are feeling. In what was Brett Favre’s last game as a Packer the New York Giants beat the Packers at Lambeau in the NFC Championship game. It happens and it hurts.

What does this have to do with skiing?

The Packers

By: In: Off Season, Skiing

Being The Wisconsin Skier you can be sure I am a Packer fan. I was born in Green Bay and was only miles from Lambeau Field when the Ice Bowl was played (however being roughly six months of age at the time, I was not there) so yeah, I am a Packer fan.

One thing great about most of the NFL season is it does not conflict with skiing. Eventually though it does, especially if the Packers are in contention for a playoff berth or are in the playoffs.

Green, Gold, and Blue

By: In: Skiing

From the title of this site I am sure you will guess correctly as to which NFL team I am a fan of. Yeap, the Green & Gold — The Green Bay Packers. I like to watch the games, I was at my parent’s house last Sunday and so too were my brother, uncle, and aunt.

Great game but not good enough, I only like good tight games when the Packers are not in them. I have a case of the green ‘n gold blues over the outcome of that game.
