Wow!

Within the last week the volume of tweets I am seeing is picking up immensely! It would be unbearable if the tweets were literally bird chirps.

Now mind you, the tweets I am talking about relate to a certain topic. Whatever could that topic be?

Big Bear Zone 1

Big Bear Zone 1

This image is what I consider to be Big Bear’s first zone. This zone is characterized by a very modest pitch and for most of it, it is narrow, but you really do not need any sort of room here. The zone does start to open up at the end as it leads into zone 2.

Getting ready to race

Action all over!

Even after skiing all day long and skiing hard the children were still full of energy. Climbing up on the ramp and looking for others to play with.

This Weekend on the Slopes of Brule

the tee-bar on Brule's backside

T-Bar Riders

It was a great weekend of skiing.I am planning on covering an event next weekend at Ski Brule and decided to break out my camera and use it on the slopes.

On Saturday, I spent a fair amount of time snapping photos and recording video imagery. It was interesting and somewhat frustrating. One of my frustrations with my first encounter of digital imagery was the camera’s tendency to hesitate prior to recording the image. If you could not anticipate the image far enough in advance I would miss shots, often times capturing dolphin tails just above the water’s surface.

The camera I shoot with now is different. I found it to be quick in most situations but not yesterday, it has me thinking of breaking out my old film based camera and shooting with that camera next weekend, or using a combination of tools. With my film based camera I have a wide variety of glass, but with my digital camera I have one fixed lens.

Enough of the photography. How was the skiing?

What a weekend it was!

Went to the happy ski grounds last Friday. In variance with the usual pattern Friday night I took it easy and went to bed early. Early on Saturday our neighbors came by. I tossed my ski gear into my buddy’s RAV 4 and away we went to Ski Brule.

FYI this report is for Saturday February 6 & Sunday February 7 2010.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

The Ski Channel’s website reports:

After his 11th in a World Cup skicross race in France, it has become official. Errol Kerr has qualified for the Winter Olympics. Eric Holmer, aka Homey, Kerr’s tech, trainer, and part-time psychiatrist, broke the word saying, “Its official Errol Kerr of Jamaica qualifies for the Olympic Skier X in Vancouver.”

Outstanding!
