I finally used the clear Oakley Canopy goggles for night skiing. The fire iridium is a great lens but it is best for days with lots of light. Once the light gets low and flat the fire iridium lens is not good. I need to get another lens more suitable for those days when the light is low and flat(blahbird days) but for now I have amber sunglasses that work well and at worst I can wear my old goggles.
Clear Oakley Canopy Goggles — Product Review Disclosure
I purchased the clear Oakley Canopy goggle lens with my own funds. Furthermore, I have no financial interest in Oakley or any firm that markets clear Oakley Canopy goggle lenses. Similarly, I purchased the goggles last year with my own funds.
Clear Oakley Canopy Goggles — Swapping Out
I should have known and swapped the lens earlier, before leaving home. However, I was hoping to get by with a pair of clear glasses I have (primarily for cycling) but the night cooled and a mix of rain, ice, and snow started to fall. I decided the clear Oakley Canopy goggles would be best. Also, I found the glasses I had were not at all fog resistant, as soon as I would stop moving they would quickly fog over. Yes the glasses cleared up as soon as I started moving (riding up the chair or skiing back down), but in the meantime I’m trying to see. The clear Oakley Canopy goggles did a very good job in remaining fog free in motion and at rest.
Changing the lenses was mostly easy but I am not certain I snapped them in 100%. I need to check that out and practice it a bit more
Clear Oakley Canopy Goggles — Performance
As I have come to expect the clear Oakley Canopy goggles performed well. They did not fog up and the clear lenses permitted me good vision of the slopes. With the artificial lighting I did not need assist to bring out the bumps, the lighting and a number of preliminary exploratory runs helped with that. The goggles fit well and were comfortable.
I am getting tremendous ski value out of my clear Oakley Canopy goggles and still recommend them without reservation!
