One of the things I discovered is there is no need to let the PTEX set up over a long period before scraping off the excess. In fact, I found it harder to remove the excess and ended up scratching up my bases. In fact, I ended up applying more PTEX to some of those scratches. This time I let the PTEX sit for about 10-15 minutes and then scraped it off, much better results.
